The Verhoeff-Zimmerman Society consists of ophthalmologists and pathologists that share a common interest in the pathologic study of eye diseases.
The Society holds an annual meeting at which members of the society share cases of interest. Cases might be selected because of the rarity of the disease, the teaching value of the case, or to illustrate a new pathologic technique.
The Society’s motto “Ex Errato Lux” - from our mistakes comes knowledge - is a tribute to Verhoeff’s last paper “My Major Mistakes”. The informality of the meeting permits a lively, no holds barred discussion of cases that is unique among ophthalmic societies.
